I eat here regularly since I work on campus and my favorite is the chicken tortilla soup. It's affordable & flavorful, the serving size is generous, all around hearty & comforting. The staff are efficient and kind. They overheard me telling my coworker I was treating her to lunch for her birthday, and gave us complimentary (and scrumptious) alfajores! Environment is good for a quick bite to eat.

I work at UCSF and Carmelita's is located next door inside the food court. My coworkers love this place and it never disappoints. This was my second time ordering from here in the last couple of years. It serves fresh food (think quesadillas, burritos, tacos and a la carte plates. As long as the lines get here, the flow moves really fast so you're not really waiting long. Price points are between $8-14. Today, I got the shrimp quesadilla with sour cream, guacamole and Pico de Gallo on the side. It was so DAMN good.... the portions are big enough that I split it between two meals. Shrimp nice and fresh, quesadilla was nice and toasty with the cheesy pull- and the condiments matched perfectly with the flavor. Next time I'd add beans and rice on the side.

I've been coming here for 15 years and despite what appears to be a hospital food court express place, the food is absolutely FIRE. They open super early and offer juevos rancheros that will knock your socks off. Their plantains are some of the best that I have ever had in my life. Great prices too!

Right across the street from UCSF Parnassus. I ordered the plantain special which I was very pleased to see they offered. The cafe can get a little noisy during lunch time, but there is seating inside and service is quick. With how fast the food gets to you, the quality is very good. Parking will be challenging, there is a hospital garage and limited street parking. Given the food within the few blocks of this area, this is a good choice. Thank you!

Pleasantly surprised with the food quality for a food court Mexican fast food place. Located in the UCSF Parnassus campus. Convenient location. Fast service. Friendly staff. I arrived around 4pm to browse lunch options. Food was not as spicy or heated hot enough, but I guess you get what you pay for coming in later in the day. Ordered Chicken Enchilada, got the last one so must be a popular dish. Chicken enchilada comes in a flour tortilla, has red enchilada sauce, a hearty amount of shredded chicken inside. Served with Mexican style rice, choice of beans (I went with refried), pick de gayo salsa which tasted very fresh, lettuce, and sour cream on top. A nice filling lunch for only $11! You have choices also for add-ons like cheese and guacamole for extra price. Shout out to Karmin S. who served me. I'll consider going back maybe earlier in the day so the food is fresher. Plenty of indoor cafeteria style seating. Also benches outside. I found the environment & restrooms to be clean. Tip: Street parking is a nightmare especially with all the constrution going on across the street at the hospital, which never seems to end. Would return for a quick, inexpensive hot meal. Thanks!
